STAFFORD town centre's Shire Hall is to be leased to the University of Wolverhampton, quelling public fears the former courts would be sold off by the county council. But what do locals think?
Tony Latham, 73, of Wildwood, said: "It's better than being shut down. It's nice to see them doing something sensible with it for a change."
Carol Bland, 53, of Gnosall, said: "It's a good idea. I go in there every two months or so with a disabled lady I look after."
George Wright, 87, of Stafford, said: "It's a disgrace. It should be kept for what it is supposed to be - the central library."
Adam and Jennifer Checkley, with Evan, six, of Hixon, said: "It is better that somebody is using it for education rather than not being used for education, as long as services are available like the sensory room."
