WALTON Chaser faced a double header of competitions last weekend with a shorter urban race around Walsall University on Saturday and a longer race around the Long Mynd on Sunday.
First up was the shorter but much faster race around the Walsall University campus with a 2.8km and 2.2km route on offer as well as a combined route for the longer course.
Top ten results included Andrew Collins, 8th on the A course, Sue Findlay- Robinson, 4th on the B course, and on the combined course, Andy Yeates was 4th and Ray Collins was 6th.
The following day the Chasers travelled to the Long Mynd for a Long-O, which is long distance orienteering with few controls.
Three routes were on offer the short course of 9km with 350m of climbing, a long course course of 15.75km with 800m of climbing and an optional butterfly course taking a short cut to make a 12km route.
Ray Collins and John Robinson went for the full course finishing in 13th and 16th in approximately 3.5 hours on a very tough course.
Taking the 12km option was Dave Thomas finishing in 3rd in 2.5 hours and just eight minutes behind the winner.
The short course of 9km was the most popular and Andy Yeates was again in the results finishing in 3rd place in 1 hour 50 minutes just seven minutes behind the winner.
