KAMALIYA is an interesting character to say the least.
A Mrs World winner in 2008, revered in her native Russia as a superstar, fashion icon, and movie pin-up, and now a burgeoning popstar you begin to wonder if there is anything she isn’t doing.
Riding on a wave of blistering euro pop, Kamaliya has crashed onto these shores and is dreaming big after landing a support slot on the massive Steps arena tour across the UK.
“England has very great audiences,” she told the Mail. “Everyone is very lovely and friendly, it’s a very beautiful country. I like coming here.
“I was a popstar before I became an actress but my dream is to become even more famous.”
It is a lofty ambition. Her latest single Arrhythmia is out on April 29, and she’s hoping it will be a vying for a slot on people’s iPods before they jet off for the summer.
“Arrhythmia is such a special song for me,” she said. “The minute I heard the remixes I felt they could be really big,” she said.
“It reminds me of the perfect summer anthem — being at the beach, having parties and watching the sun go down.
“I’m really looking forward to playing it across the UK during the Steps tour and kick-starting the summer for everyone.”
It adds to her growing discography with Kamilya having releasing four albums back in Russia.
It has also offered a diversion from her other latest project where she has was recruited by Hollywood for a foray on the silver screen Officer Down will be out next year.
Her fascinating background makes her a must-see on stage.
Kamaliya will be supporting Steps at the Birmingham LG arena on April 25.
Tickets are still available.
