A SOUTH Derbyshire venue will host a performance by one of the sixties’ most enduring bands next week.
Animals & Friends are made up of two founding members of The Animals who achieved worldwide success at the height of their fame.
Back in 1964, as new energetic rock and roll swept over the youth of the world, representing Britain on the crest of that wave alongside the likes of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, were The Animals.
The Animals were the second British band to top the American charts after The Beatles with the now multi-million selling and legendary anthem, House Of The Rising Sun.
The band subsequently achieved over 20 global top ten hit records, many of which gained the number one slot in various parts of the world.
In Britain alone, the band had no less than 12 chart entries, including other classic hits such as We Gotta Get Out Of This Place and Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood.
The band continue as Animals & Friends with founder members John Steel and Mickey Gallagher, as well as new members Danny Handley and Peter Bartley.
