Woody Harrelson signs for Out Of The Furnace
Woody Harrelson is to appear in 'Out Of The Furnace'.
The 'Hunger Games' actor is expected to play Curtis DeGroat, the leader of a violent crime ring, in the forthcoming thriller, despite Billy Bob Thornton previously being close to signing a deal for the role.
The movie - which will be directed by 'Crazy Heart' helmsman Scott Cooper - sees Slim (Christian Bale) released from jail after serving a long sentence for murder.
He wants to live a quiet life and marry his long-term girlfriend, but his plans change when his brother (Casey Affleck) is lured into Curtis' crime ring and tragedy strikes, with Slim vowing to seek revenge on those involved in his sibling's passing.
Also cast in the movie is Zoe Saldana, with the 'Avatar' beauty portraying Slim's girlfriend, and Sam Shepard as the brothers' uncle.
Forest Whitaker is also in negotiations to appear in the movie as a sleazy bookmaker.
Shooting is scheduled to begin in the next few months.
Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the film's producers, along with Jennifer Killoran, also part of the actor's Appian Way company, and Scott Free's Ridley Scott, Tony Scott and Michael Costigan, and Relativity CEO Ryan Kavanaugh. Brooklyn Weaver of Energy Entertainment is executive producing.
