TWO Stafford Hospital wards have been affected by the Norovirus bug.

Staff are trying to contain Norovirus – also known as the winter vomiting bug - within the affected areas – Ward 8 and the Trauma and Orthopaedic Ward – and visitors have been urged think carefully about whether they need to come into hospital if they have experienced diarrhoea, vomiting or flu-like symptoms

Suzanne Banks, Director of Nursing, Midwifery & AHPs said: “Ward staff are working with our infection control team to contain the Norovirus within the areas affected.

“We know that sometimes visitors feel they must take every opportunity to visit sick friends or relatives. However, if they themselves have been unwell they could be putting others at risk, so we are advising that they stay at home until they have been symptom free for 48 hours.

“If you are unsure whether or not to visit, please feel free to contact the ward before you come into our hospital.”
