A POLICE car was involved in a collision on Friday night in Stafford.

Officers are appealing for witnesses after the marked police car, which was en route to an emergency call, was in collision with a silver Peugeot on the Wolverhampton Road around 9.15pm.

The drivers of both vehicles – a serving police officer and a 37-year-old man from Stafford - suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Those involved were treated at the scene by the Ambulance Service, with the officer being taken to hospital as a precaution from where he was later discharged.

The road was closed for a little over an hour, while the matter was tended to and the vehicles removed.
