A WOMAN hit by a train in Wedgwood near Stone on Sunday was pronounced dead at the scene.
British Transport Police were called to the incident on the line, reportedly close to a crossing, following calls that a woman had been struck by the 13:36 Milton Keynes to Crewe train.
A BTP spokesman said officers attended the incident alongside police after it was reported at 3.40pm.
“Medics from the West Midlands Ambulance Service also attended but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene,” she said. “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the woman’s identity and inform her family.”
A file will be prepared for the coroner in relation to the incident which is currently being treated as non-suspicious.
