A woman has died in Stafford house fire, police have said.

Fire crews from Rising Brook, Stafford and Gnosall battled the blaze in a semi-detached house at Tamar Grove, which broke out at breakfast time yesterday, Wednesday.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze which caused “significant” damage to the ground floor of the property.

Crews were able to contain the fire so that it did not spread to the adjoining house.
