Woolpack A win dramatic penalty shoot out in Lichfield Cup

WOOLPACK A kept alive their chances of Lichfield Charity Cup success this season in dramatic fashion on Sunday.

The Stafford and District Sunday Football League outfit took on Rugeley United in what proved a thrilling quarter final clash, one that produced six goals by the end of extra time, Woolpack eventually winning through 7-5 on penalties.

In the League Challenge Cup, holders Tap and Spile will look to retain the silverware when they contest a second successive final.

This week they shot down Riverway B 5-1 in the semi-finals and will face division three leaders Perkins Social in the final.

The Tixall Road side ran out 4-1 winners over AFC Doxey.

On the league front Staffs Bull continue to set the pace in division one with a 3-1 away win at third place Seighford.

With matches in hand, RC Morrisman ran out 3-0 home winners against County Officers. Stafford Celtic pulled off a 4-2 win at Riverway A.

In division two, Horns Athletic have moved top on goal difference from Yarnfield Labour, both locked on 34 points.

The top two are six points clear of Tap and Spile, but the Challenge Cup holders have three matches in hand. This week, Horns ran out 2-0 winners over strugglers Princess Royal, as AFC Eagle Eccleshall and Werder Brocton shared four goals.

There was just one fixture in division three and second place The Yard defeated Rifleman Joiners 4-2.

On the fourth division front, Royal Oak missed a chance to move within three points of unbeaten leaders Holmcroft Titans.

The Oak were held to a 2-2 draw by visiting AFC Stafford Boro.

Third place Cross Keys won 4-0 at Stafford Centurions and Bear and Pheasant 07 beat Horns FC 3-1.
