WORK can now start on the expansion of Stafford’s Beacon Business Park now a new entrance and traffic island have been completed.

The roundabout has been built at the junction with Blackheath Lane, along with a new pedestrian crossing and cycle lanes. It means work can now start on extending the park, which is likely to create up to 2,000 jobs.

The site will include a range of businesses, including a restaurant and convenience store. Developer ISE Estates and the county council successfully bid for £1.7million from the Department for Transport’s Local Pinch Point Fund for the road works.

Staffordshire County Council’s economy leader Mark Winnington said: “It is rewarding to see work completed on this new junction and business park entrance. It means the creation of up to 2,000 jobs is a step closer and traffic flow will be improved on one of the main routes into Stafford.”

Alison Park, from ISE Estates, said: “We have managed to reach this milestone on time through close working with the county council which enabled us to secure the DfT funding. In addition to freeing congestion to aid business growth, this project had to demonstrate it benefited the community.

“Now we can move forward with development on site and are looking forward to seeing a vibrant business park operating as soon as we can. The extension is on a 50-acre site so will make a considerable difference. ISE Estates is a long-established Stafford business and we’re really pleased to play a part in the county’s continued economic growth.”
