YOUNG thespians took inspiration from the Stafford Shakespeare festival to stage their own version of As You Like It – in front of an audience including professional actors.

Castlechurch Primary School pupils were given the opportunity to stage their own production in the Keep at Stafford Castle.

Children aged seven to 11 took part in the performance after auditioning at school.

It mirrored this year’s successful open air production within the Stafford Castle grounds earlier this month.

And stars of the professional show Tom Radford and Georgina White watched the Castlechurch youngsters on stage.

Tom’s character of Orlando was played by Aiden Edge, 10, while Georgina’s character Rosalind was played by Beth Bowyer, 11.

It has become an annual tradition for Castlechurch School to perform their own take on the annual Stafford Festival Shakespeare production.

Stafford Festival Shakespeare producer Derrick Gask said: “It’s a really lovely event to see happen each year and fantastic to see such young pupils not only take on the challenge of reading and performing Shakespeare but also enjoying it.”
