FLYTIPPERS have blighted Stafford Borough countryside by dumping waste including a bathroom suite near Gnosall and a bed near Stone.

Stafford Borough Council has posted pictures of the latest incidents of illegal rubbish dumping in the Grimewatch section of its website.

They include household items dumped in Wadden Lane off the A518 Uttoxeter Road near Amerton and a pink bathroom suite, pictured, in Guild Lane, Aqualate, off the A518 Newport Road.

A bed and motorcycle tyres were abandoned in Hardwick Wood, Jolpool Lane, in the Hilderstone area.

Around 300 flytipping incidents are reported in the borough each year and they cost tens of thousands of pounds to clear up.

A number of people have been issued with fixed penalty notices over the last 12 months including a man fined for littering at the recycling site in Burton Square last month.

The Grimewatch scheme aims to catch flytippers with the help of residents. Anyone who can provide information on the “unsolved grimes” pictured on the website can call the council in confidence on 01785 619402 or email grimewatch@staffordbc.gov.uk.
