PHOENIX Blues LHC got their Staffordhire Ladies league season under way by hitting the goal trail against visiting Streetly.
The outcome was a resound- ing 11-1 success for the Blues, who faced a Streetly side that could only field ten players and did not use a goalkeeper.
Making her debut for the Blues was Jo Clews who got her new club off to a good start with the opening goal.
From then on the local side dominated and Clews com- pleted her hat-trick before the break, with Claire Walker and Dawn Moogan also on
the scoresheet. In a break- away, Streetly netted their only goal of the game.
The second half continued in the same vein with the Blues hitting a further six goals.
Clews completed a memo- rable first outing for the club by pushing her personal tally to five, while Mia Broomhall (two), Ellouise Haddrell and Jennifer Woodyard also found the target. The player of the match award was shared by Broomhall and another of the newcomers, Theresa Liggins.
Blues face a much harder fix- ture at Wolves and Tettenhall on Saturday.
