A RECORD-BREAKING knitter is among the Staffordshire residents putting their dinner party skills to the test on TV.
Popular Channel Four show Come Dine With Me focuses on the creative county tomorrow and joining Milford artist Ingrid Wagner will be opera singer Charlotte Pearson, project manager Carl Longson and car salesman Richard Turnbull.
The show challenges four people to host dinner parties for one another over the course of a week, scoring their hosts’ efforts at the end of each evening. At the end of the week the contestant who scores the most points lands £1,000.
Filming took place in March, but although the contestants know who won the prize they too are in the dark about how their fellow contestants rated their evenings until the episode airs tomorrow, Ingrid said.
Ingrid, who got into the record books by knitting with the world’s largest needles, became involved after seeing a call for contestants.
The filming took place at a chaotic time for her as she had only recently moved house and returned from hosting a crafting trip to Morocco.
“At the start of the week I didn’t have any knives, so I had to go shopping for them.
"On the Wednesday, when the TV crew came to film, I had no table so I had to go to the antiques centre at Wolseley Bridge to get one, and I had someone running around in the fruit and veg shop in Rugeley trying to find orange flower water,” she said.
Ingrid’s menu was appropriately Moroccan-themed and she encouraged her guests to try their hand at knitting, sparking a surprising response.
The Come Dine With Me episode will be broadcast at 5pm on Channel Four tomorrow.
