Opening a bank account is easy – you can do it online, on the phone or in person at a branch. Here’s our guide to what you need to know.
Before you get started, decide which current account you want to open.
There are plenty available, each with different benefits, so make sure to choose one that suits you.
You can apply for a bank account in just 10 minutes1 with no need to fill out lots of paperwork, provided you have all the right information to hand.
Before you start, you’ll need:
- your income details – including your pension or investments if you have any
- details of any benefits you may receive
- details of your addresses and postcodes for the last 3 years
- your employer’s address if you have one
When you’ve opened an account online, you’ll have all the benefits of a bank account as well as being able to access Internet Banking.
You can log in to your account 24/7 to:
- check your balance
- transfer money to other accounts
- pay your bills
- apply for new products
You won’t need to visit a branch to manage your account. Access our Self Service tool 24/7 to order new cheque books, request a new PIN or request a replacement credit or debit card.
You can also get all your statements online, so you won’t need to receive them in the post.
You can apply for new Lloyds TSB products online, including credit cards and savings accounts as well as requesting upgrades to your account and overdrafts.
Visit a branch
You don’t need to be on the Internet to open an account. You can do it in person in any branch of Lloyds TSB.
You’ll need to take proof of identity with you, and you’ll be able to sit down with an advisor who will talk you through the various options available.
Pick up the phone
You can also open an account by phone.
Lloyds TSB’s phone lines are open from 8am-10pm on Monday to Friday and 8am-6pm at the weekends.
All you need to do is phone 0800 015 40002 and they’ll talk you through the process of opening your new account.
Move your existing account
If you already have a current account, it’s easy to switch your account to a new provider.
You can switch your account online in just a few simple steps.
