THERE was more silverware for Moddershall CC this week with victory in the Stone league Hassel Trophy final on Sunday.
Moddershall A seconds were put in to bat against local rivals Aston and reached 167-6 off their allotted 40 overs. Aston’s Kevin Langdown and James Faulconbridge both took two wickets.
For Moddershall, Liam Roberts (35), Joe Mason (30) and Dave Eyre (22) got amongst the runs for Moddershall after they had lost both openers cheaply.
In reply, Aston started well with Richard Water- house making 24. Faulconbridge also con- tributed well with a knock of 34, before being one of four batsmen run out.
Moddershall bowlers, Kieran Griffin and man of the match Roberts took two wickets apiece as Aston were removed for 105, so securing a second trophy for the Spot Acre club so far this term.
The previous day, Moddershall A firsts kept up their title push in the Stone premier divisiion
with a convincing 149-run victory over Onneley and Maer, Moddershall A1 now have a 55 point cushion over nearest rivals Sandon.
Skipper Andy Heard led by example for Mod- dershall with an impressive innings of 102 as his side totalled 227 before declared in the 47th over. Will Hudson gave good support with 39.
Pick of the Onneley bowlers were Adam Edwards with 3-39 and Dileep Bezawadaj (3-48).
In response, Onneley were all out for just 78 off only 20.1 over4s, with opener Tom Salt reaching double figures on 35.
The Moddershall bowling attack was led superbly by Shaun Brian (6-27) and Jack Chell 3-9 off three overs.
