STAFFORD comedy fans can see one of the country's most successful funny men trying out new material for his forthcoming arena tour.

Russell Howard returns to his first love, live stand-up, at Stafford Gatehouse Theatre, one of his favourite UK venues.

For two nights the star and creator of award-winning television show Russell Howard's Good News will road test gags for his sold-out arena tour.

His last arena tour saw him play to more than 200,000 fans over 25 nights. His television show is currently in its seventh series and regularly pulls in five million viewers a week.

He also has three best-selling DVDs to his name but the stage is his raison d'etre and he returns with his first tour for three years with a show that looks like being the hottest ticket of 2014.

This is a chance to see the comic, whose 2011 sell-out UK tour included three sold out dates at London's O2, back on stage in Stafford.

His tour will visit some of the country's biggest venues in cities including Manchester, Liverpool and London's Wembley Arena.

The show starts at 8pm on Wednesday and Thursday, January 29 and 30 with tickets costing £15 no concessions.
