A BELOVED dog near Stone given just months to live has made a miraculous recovery thanks to faith and friendship, his owner has said.

Rottweiler Samuel is a popular member of the Oulton and Stone community, helping owner Lynne Bakker-Collier raise funds for Guide Dogs for the Blind. But Lynne was heartbroken to be told the six-year-old pooch was suffering terminal bone cancer in a leg last summer.

"He was given three to six months to live, and I was told to go home and love him", she said.

Lynne later made the difficult decision to have him put to sleep but Will Jeffells at Shire's Vets suggested a leg amputation could be an option.

Samuel is now back at home – minus a front leg – and healing.
