TWO fixtures were played in the Stafford and District Netball league top flight and one saw Bluebelles A run out impressive victors.
They took on basement side Freedom in the first game of the evening and although the Belles started the match a player down they still dominated the early stages.
Accurate shooting from Jenny Cantrill (GA) enabled Bluebelles to take a 24-11 half-time lead.
Freedom fought hard but Bluebelles continued to hold their advantage. Good attacking play from Freedom's wing attack and centre barely troubled the Belles.
In the end, Bluebelles ran out worthy 45-23 winners, with player of the match awards going to Emma Harding (Belles) and Vicki Ridgewell (Freedom).
In the other fixture, Sapphries edged home 23-19 against Spittal Brook in a close affair.
After the first quarter, Sapphires held a narrow one goal advantage and they maintained the pressure, extending their lead to 16-11 at the break.
Brook fought back, but were just unable to pull back all of the deficit. Star player for Sapphires was Rachel Hockenhill.
